This flower is given this Nepali name because of the appearance of its flower which looks like an Indian ear (Karna) ornament. In english it is generally known as LANTANA, its botanical name is LANTANA CAMARA. Its flowers has a mild pleasant minty smell with beautiful multi colored petals. Its bushes cover the foothills of Darjeeling and other North East Stated of India. It is commonly used in treating cases of cough, gastric ulcers, and bronchitis. Further the leaf juice is used on cuts wounds, eczema, ring worms and skin irritations. Some local people also use the leaf juice on swelling, boils, sprains and skin inflammation. There had been little research work done on this herb. Further research can bring miraculous results from this beautiful flower shrub.
