Paakhan-Bet

This herb is called Pakhan-Bet in Nepali because of its stem that looks like a cane (Bet). This also have a Btanical name i.e. BERGENIA CILIATA. Englishmen also called it Indian Rockfoil because its grows on rock as well as in soil. This species is a Rhizome (root) having big heart shaped leafs with hairy lateral edge. It is found mostly in North Eastern parts of Indian Himalayan region including Darjeeling Hills from between 1000M to 1200M. It is used for Sprains, Fractures, Gout, Inflammations, Back-Ache and in muscular traumas. Local people chop the leaves and prepare chicken soup with it for relief in post maternity issues in woman.
